About Us

Founded in 2025 by a group of passionate Wah Yan College Kowloon alumni and fellow Catholics, Coffee BOATS is a coffee brand built upon the principles of a Benefit Corporation (B-Corp), dedicated to creating social good.

Our core business focuses on roasting and selling coffee. Twenty percent of all revenue—without any deduction of costs—is directly donated to Caritas Hong Kong to empower local communities, particularly grassroots women, youth, and people with disabilities, helping them improve their lives and rekindle hope through professional training.

In sourcing, we adhere to the principle of “Direct Trade,” collaborating directly with coffee farms operated by Catholic dioceses, religious orders, priests, and NGOs around the world. We ensure full transparency of origin while directly supporting the sustainable development of local communities. This is more than just a business—it is our steadfast commitment to society and the environment.

Coffee BOATS

Coffee based on a true story.

"Every single coffee bean,
tells a true story.

We do more than just roast coffee,
we hope to bring each real story
from lands affected by war and illegal crops
into the cup you hold in your hands.

This journey
tells of land transforming from scarred and battered to fertile and thriving;
it tells of how people, through their own strength, change their destiny.

We support Direct Trade and respect both farmers and nature,
because we believe every dollar should be put to meaningful use.
Every purchase you make is no longer just a transaction,
but a tangible act of support,
a promise that can change lives.

Coffee BOATS is more than a brand,
it is a vessel connecting origin regions, farmers, women, youth,
and connecting with you as well.

When you take a moment in your busy life to savor this cup of coffee,
you taste our care and hope,
sailing together to create beautiful stories of life."

We believe that business is not merely about profit, but about writing a new chapter for the world. We respect both the land and the people, staying true to our commitment of “Business for Good,” and working alongside partners who share the same values.
In the Nariño Villa Loyola valley of Colombia, Jesuit Father Padre Joe combines science and faith to guide farmers in practicing sustainable agriculture, restoring devastated lands, and witnessing the land and people being treated with care, allowing prosperity to continue. The uniqueBean program, supported by Caritas Switzerland, helps coffee farmers in Bale, Ethiopia, receive professional training, establish traceability systems, and develop direct trade networks, enabling them to export their products to international markets. Meanwhile, in the Karen villages of Northern Thailand, the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel have set up coffee processing centers, transforming the land into lush Arabica coffee plantations and increasing local family incomes. We support Direct Trade, reduce carbon footprints, and ensure full transparency of origin. We purchase coffee directly from these partners and pay 80% above the Fair Trade price, ensuring farmers receive a fairer income. In addition, 20% of the revenue from every coffee bag is directly donated to Caritas Hong Kong, bringing the power of change to local communities and allowing these inspiring stories to continue where they are most needed.
The journey of coffee has never been a series of isolated, disconnected points.
The story begins at the coffee farms in the regions of origin, where farmers pour their heart and soul into improving the quality of the beans. Locally, grassroots women carefully roast the green beans into unique flavors after undergoing training. This is more than just a craft—it is a way to support their families and bring hope to their communities. Within the community, young people use coffee to promote and share, connecting with others, discovering limitless possibilities in life, and passing the story on to the next generation. This connection transcends geography. In the Karen villages of Northern Thailand, a group displaced by historical circumstances and marginalized from mainstream Thai society, many young people are unable to attend regular schools. Yet, with the support of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, they have found new pathways. Lojia Pholawat is one such young person. Through learning about coffee at Life Coffee, he transformed into a professional barista. When our team from Coffee BOATS in Hong Kong visited, he shared his passion using professional coffee terminology. The confidence and light in his eyes exemplify the transformative power of coffee. Through coffee, we are closely connected. When you pause in your busy day to savor a cup of coffee, you too become part of this story. Coffee is more than a beverage—it weaves together real, tangible stories that connect hearts and lives.
Sometimes, even scarred and battered land can grow hope.
And we believe that scars are not the end, but the beginning of transformation. In Nariño, Colombia, the shadows left by past conflicts have now been replaced by the prosperity of sustainable agriculture. In the Bale Highlands of Ethiopia, after years of civil war, the land has grown resilient, passing hope on to future generations. This is the power of coffee: it turns barren land into fertile soil, transforms fear into dignity, creates sustainable economies, changes lives, and spreads hope—turning destiny into possibility. This power also extends locally. We believe that every cup of coffee can bring tangible change. Through coffee, local women and youth receive training and support, enabling them to discover their potential, improve their lives with new skills, and bring hope to their communities. These coffees have transformed the lives of farmers around the world, and through your support, hope is taking root in local communities as well. Every sip of coffee is a true testament to this journey of transformation.
